One of the most recognizable（可辨认的） symbols of China, the Great Wall of China has a long and plicated history.

中国长城历史悠久复杂，是中国最具标示性的象征。

It is not just one all, but many different alls and fortifications（防御工事） that ere built over the course of thousands of years.

Hundreds of years later in 221 BC, the first Emperor（皇帝） of China, Qin Shi Huang, ordered that alls that divided his empire should be destroyed and a ne all connecting the remaining pieces should be built, creating fortifications that protected the empire from northern attackers.
