China remains one of the safest countries in the orld, as it has long been among nations ith the loest crime rates, and the rate of serious violent offenses in the country has been on a continuous decline in recent decades, according to a report.

一份报告显示，中国仍然是世界上最安全的国家之一，因为中国一直是犯罪率最低的国家之一，近几十年来，中国严重暴力犯罪的发生率一直在持续下降。

In the past 20 years, crimes of intentional(故意的) homicide, robbery and abduction（绑架） have been constantly dropping across the country.

The number of people accused of such crimes decreased by 67.7 percent last year pared ith 2003, according to the report issued recently by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences' Institute of La.

根据中国社会科学院法学研究所最近发布的报告，与2003年相比，去年被指控犯有此类罪行的人数减少了67.7%。

It revealed that the number of defendants（被告） convicted of serious violent crimes decreased to 56,800 in 2021 from 95,700 in 2013.

报告显示，被判犯有严重暴力犯罪的被告人数从2013年的9.57万人减少到2021年的5.68万人。

In addition, offenses involving firearms（枪炮） ere don 21 percent year-on-year in 2022, hile those involving explosives declined 19 percent, the report said.

"These figures have shon that such crimes in China remain lo, indicating that Chinese people's sense of security is at a high level," said Zhang Zhigang, an associate research fello（研究员） at the institute ho heads the team that piled the report.
